matching-gifts

Matching gifts can double, and sometimes triple, the impact of your gift. Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. Some companies may also match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses. If your employer offers matching gifts, request a matching gift form which is often available through your company’s human resources department. You can also use our search tool below to see if your employer has a matching gift program.

See if your employer will match your donation!
Many employers (like Google, Microsoft, Starbucks, Abbott, or Grainger) will double your gift. You can use Charity Navigator to see if your company is one of them and how to do matching with them, many times they have a portal using XXX.benevity.org.

If your company accepts matching gifts, submit your application one of two ways: Mail or email your completed and signed matching gift form to us at:

Youth Fencing Chicago, Inc. | EIN 99-0834900

If your company uses a matching gift platform, eg. benevity.org, submit your request through their portal by choosing Youth Fencing Chicago, Inc.or entering our EIN 99-0834900 (DBA Fencing Forward). We will verify your gift once your application is received.

how Your Donations help

Fencing Uniforms

The uniform protects against penetration by the weapon. The materials range from very heavy cotton to light weight high tech. As the kids get older, they start fencing bigger and stronger kids, and the “Newton” rating (puncture strength) on the uniform becomes more critical. Sadly, the fabric will eventually wear out after so many washes and the level of protection goes down. Besides the kids outgrowing their uniform, they should also get new uniform after a while. Some kids can’t afford to get a uniform, let alone getting new ones!

Gear and Equipment

New or Used, Just like any metal, these too, will wear out. Sometimes we can repair them, but sometimes the blade will just snap.

Tournaments

Regionals and Nationals
We want the kids to challenge themselves. To do so, they need to attend the Regional and Nations Tournaments.

Scholarships

Being a student athlete who is involved with the community takes real commitment. It takes a lot of work to balance academics and fencing. Sometimes having a afterschool job is not enough. This scholarship helps to fill in the gap for them.

Community Grants

Clubs and Non-Profits do what they can. We know how stretched their budgets are. Our Community Grants is to help cover the incredible work they do with kids.

Our Accountability

Although Fencing Forward is youth led and youth focused 501(c)(3) organization., we are structured just like any responsible corporation, we have a Board that oversees us. In this case, we have to answer to the toughest board of all, our parents! Moreover, each of us at Fencing Forward have earned accolades as a son/daughter, as a student, as a fencer, and most importantly, as a community member. We understand how critical it is for us to uphold our fiduciary duty. We are committed to accountability, transparency and responsible fiscal management. Your gift to Fencing Forward, a DBA of Youth Fencing Chicago, Inc, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
